• Passage 1– 100 words ( 6 marks ) , six comprehensive questions ( 2 multiple choice questions, 2 comprehensive questions testing local and global understanding , 2 questions on vocabulary – one testing the knowledge of similar words and the other testing the knowledge of opposite word )
• Passage 2– 250 words ( 9 marks ) , Nine comprehensive questions ( 3 multiple choice questions, 4 comprehensive questions testing local and global understanding, 2 questions on vocabulary – one testing the knowledge of similar word and the other of opposite word )

SECTION – WRITING

Topic –

• 1. Letter Writing – one out of two ( word limit 80 ) , (a) Personal – To friend, Relatives and member of family. (b) Official – To govt. officials, The editor of a newspaper or a magazine, Headmaster/Principal. (c) Email – To family, Friends, Relatives, Govt.officials, The editor, Teacher, Headmaster, Principal and so on.
• 2. To write a short story on a given outline.
• 3. A short writing task based on a verbal or a visual stimulus ( picture,chart, table etc. ) with internal choice in about 60 words.

SECTION – GRAMMAR

Topic –

• A variety of short questions involving the use of particular structure within a context.
• Test type used Will include *gap-filling, *sentence-completion, *sentence-trasformation ( including combining sentence )
• The grammar syllabus will include the following areas for teaching – 1. Tense 2. Reported Speech 3. Conjunction 4. Relative Pronouns 5. Active and Passive voice 6. Framing questions and question Tags

SECTION – Prose First Flight

Topic –

• (a) Two extracts from different prose lessons included in the textbook. Approximately 100 words each with the following type of the questions – six questions in each passage : 2 multiple choice questions, 2 comprehensive questions testing local and global understanding, 2 questions on vocabulary – one testing the knowledge of similar words and the other of opposite word.
• (b) One out of two questions extrapolative in nature based of any one of the prose lesson from the textbook to be answer in about 80 word.
• (c) One out of two questions on drama text ( local and global comprehensive questions ) in about 20 words.

SECTION – Poetry First Flight

Topic –

• (a) One out of two extracts – based on poetry from the text to test comprehensive and appreciation.
• (b) Two out of three short answer type questions on interpretation of theam and ideas contained in the poem to be answered in about 20 words each.

SECTION – Supplementary Readers-Footprints Without Feet

Topic –

• (a) One out of two questions from supplementary readers to interpret, evaluate and analyse character, Plot or situations occuring in the lessons to be answered in about 60 words.
• (b) Two out of three short answer type questions on interpreting and evaluating nature based on lessons to be answered in about 20 words each.
• (c) Three multiple choice type questions used on factual aspects of the lessons.
